Newcastle | 5-7 October 2022

On behalf of the Local Organising Committee, it gives me great pleasure to invite you to the long-awaited Difficult Airway Society 2022 Annual Scientific Meeting, to be held as a face-to-face event in the cosmopolitan and neighbouring Northern cities of Newcastle upon Tyne and Gateshead.

This event will bring together world-leading and pioneering experts from a wide range of backgrounds. From academics and clinical experts, to trade and business partners, all will be present to facilitate networking, sharing and learning across all aspects of modern airway management.

Highlights of the meeting will include:

  • The first ever live and interactive awake tracheal intubation to be live streamed from Guy’s Hospital, London

  • Dedicated paediatric sessions including multidisciplinary case discussion of a difficult airway

  • Role-based breakout sessions for nurses, ODPs, paramedics and others

  • Airway workshops including physicians airway simulation, paediatric airway and specific workshops for clinical staff groups

  • Confirmed speakers including Prof Karim Brohi, Prof Tim Cook, Prof Ellen O'Sullivan, Prof Patrick Schoettker, Dr Imran Ahmed and Dr Andy Higgs

Here in the North East, we know all too well the importance of social events to facilitate nascent professional relationships and networks. To this end, we will be offering a packed and perfectly curated social programme to include:

  • Complimentary welcome drinks reception at the Sage, Gateshead – a world-famous musical performance venue with unique architectural flair

  • Annual Gala Dinner at the Great North Museum: Hancock, to include a drinks reception and a three course culinary experience to be enjoyed with live music and dancing into the night

With these and other social events available to all delegates, we strongly recommend staying in the North East over the weekend to make the most of your time in this diverse city.

Meeting registration and abstract submission will open online on 3rd May 2022. You can register your interest today to receive updates and early registration information to avoid any disappointment.

Please see the relevant pages on this site for information on Newcastle Gateshead and other recommended attractions, as well as details of the scientific programme and timeline leading up to the event.

We look forward to meeting you all soon!
